What is the Silk Road Mountain Race?
taken from silkroadmountainrace.com…
”The Silk Road Mountain Race is a fixed route, unsupported, single-stage cycling race through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. The clock does not stop and there are no prizes. It follows gravel, single and double track and old soviet roads that have long been forgotten and fallen into disrepair. There is very little tarmac. There is some walking, and at times there is great distances between resupply points.
WHEN: August 17th to August 31st, 2019
WHERE: Start in Bishkek & finish in Cholpon Ata, Kyrgyzstan
WHO: Racers can ride solo or as a pair
DISTANCE: ~1670 kilometers / 26,000m of climbing. Fixed route with 3 staffed checkpoints.
END: After party the evening of August 31st, 2019
How tough it will be cannot be understated, but as Mike Hall once said, ‘Nothing that’s worth anything is ever easy.’ This race will be a true demonstration of this sentiment.”
We applied and got accepted to do the SRMR 2019 edition. In August, we will be competing in the “pairs” division for the fastest completion time possible.
We Need Partners
As we train and prepare for this incredible adventure, we are seeking partners and financial support to offset the cost of all the equipment and travel expenses to Kyrgyzstan. In addition to the Silk Road Mountain Race, we will participate in several other epic events (road races, gravel races, and adventure races) and training expeditions in 2019, including a one-on-one intensive camp with the former SRMR champion in July. Join us as we journey, and help us share our stories of exploring the world by bicycle. Any amount is appreciate, and a small donation from many equals a lot to us! Thank you,
Scotti and Ernie
